UK Immunisation Schedule

United Kingdom follows a comprehensive immunization schedule to protect its population from various vaccine-preventable diseases. It's important to note that immunization schedules may change over time based on updated recommendations, new vaccines, and public health needs.:

Childhood Immunization Schedule:

· 2 Months:

a) 1st Dose of 6-in-1 Vaccine (DTaP/IPV/Hib/HepB): Protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, Haemophilus influenzae type b, and hepatitis B.

b) 1st Dose of Rotavirus Vaccine: Prevents rotavirus infection, a common cause of gastroenteritis in infants.

· 3 Months:

a) 2nd Dose of 6-in-1 Vaccine.

b) 1st Dose of Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine (PCV): Protects against pneumococcal infections, including pneumonia and meningitis.

c) 1st Dose of Meningitis B Vaccine (MenB): Guards against meningococcal group B bacteria.

· 4 Months:

a) 2nd Dose of Rotavirus Vaccine.

b) 2nd Dose of PCV.

c) 2nd Dose of MenB Vaccine.

· 12-13 Months:

a) 1st Dose of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) Vaccine.

b) 3rd Dose of Hib/MenC Vaccine: Protects against Haemophilus influenzae type b and meningococcal group C infections.

c) 3rd Dose of 6-in-1 Vaccine.

d) Pneumococcal Booster Vaccine.

· 3 Years and 4 Months (or Soon After):

a) 2nd Dose of MMR Vaccine.

· School-Age Children (Around Age 12-13):

b) HPV Vaccine (for girls): Protects against certain types of human papillomavirus that can cause cervical cancer.

c) 3rd Dose of MenB Vaccine.


· Additional Vaccines for Specific Groups:

a) The annual influenza (flu) vaccine is recommended for certain groups, including young children, the elderly, and individuals with underlying health conditions.

b) Students entering university may be offered vaccinations against meningitis and other diseases.


· Routine Adult Vaccination:

a) Routine vaccination for adults in the UK often includes boosters for tetanus, diphtheria, and polio (Td/IPV vaccine) every ten years. Additionally, some adults may receive vaccinations based on their health status, occupation, travel plans, or other factors.
